APPLYING A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW ON BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY IN SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN: PROPOSING A FRAMEWORK

Abstract

The findings of the study will outstretch our perception of blockchain technology (BT) effects in sustainable supply chain (SSC). The synthesis of this Prisma systematic literature review (SLR) depicts varied elements dealing with BT in SSC such as BT attributes, barriers of BT implementation, management skills, connections to other digital technologies and benefits of BT. The prominent outcomes of BT in SSC include reducing supply chain costs and waste time and enhancing the economic, environmental and social avails and competitiveness. Moreover, integrating BT with other technologies as enablers of supply chain sustainability will improve capacity to achieve SSC in crisis. Therefore, its use within the supply chains (SCs) will ameliorate the efficiency and profits of the participants. This research attempts to present a SLR showing the role of BT in SSC and explains the potential contributions of BT to performance of SSCs by analyzing the research. This is the first endeavor to provide a detailed review on BT in SSC in the entire aspects and propose a special framework based on SLR results in which the whole elements of BT-based SSC have been addressed.
